MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Just a baseball’s throw away from Wrigley Field, this restaurant is named for legendary Cubs pitcher, Mordecai Brown. Set inside the trendy Hotel Zachary, it appeals to sophisticated diners with its stylish interior, outdoor patio and impressive Bourbon collection. Crowd-pleasers like fried cheese curds and burgers make an appearance on the menu, but this isn’t your usual ballpark bites-kind of joint. In fact, Jonah crab arancini over squid ink aïoli elevate finger food, while roasted trout with yuzu emulsion and crisp, herb-seasoned porchetta have highbrow leanings. Stuffed with caramel popcorn, Bavarian cream, and topped with crushed peanuts as well as puffed sorghum, the crackerjack donut is a delicious riff on the popular stadium snack.
