MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

After putting the Arts District on the culinary map with the perennially popular spot Bestia, Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis have returned with their equally buzzy sequel. Its whitewashed walls, well-stocked bar and impossible-to-score reservations mark it as the elder's compatriot, but this time, the focus is on Middle Eastern eats—from roasted meats to fresh-baked pita. Speaking of which, a selection of wood-fired flatbreads make for appealing starters, with toppings like spicy lamb sausage, red onion and pine nuts. From there, it's on to inventive eggplant "escabeche" with walnuts and pomegranate molasses; or whole-grilled dorade slathered with chermoula. Desserts are memorable, especially the strawberry-sumac cheese pastry with labneh.
