The Austrian town of Lech is one of a small handful of alpine hamlets that can claim to have put skiing on the map. Burg Vital Resort proudly carries on that tradition, perched more than a mile high on an Arlberg plateau. This is the ski getaway of choice for many a royal jetsetter, setting the global gold standard for pristine pistes, spa intensives, and the après-ski high life in general. Accommodations are split between seven snowcapped chalets and either “classic” or “contemporary” design cues. Either way, each boasts an in-room sauna and extravagant oceans of natural wood, plus a balcony to take in the massif’s grandeur.
