Despite its historical style, Borgo La Chiaracia is brand-new, built from the ground up for its intended purpose as a luxury resort. And with only 26 rooms and suites, it puts its square footage to good use — the accommodations aren’t just state-of-the-art, but are generously sized as well, and all are unique, many incorporating charming throwback details like timbered ceilings.

The Umbrian landscape isn’t just for admiring — the hotel’s restaurant, Radici, aims to put guests in direct contact with the land, via the medium of impeccably locally sourced produce and ingredients (and wine). And the word “spa” isn’t in the hotel’s name by accident — SPA Livinna goes beyond a couple of treatment rooms, adding an indoor and outdoor pool, a steam room, sauna, hydromassage, and multi-sensory showers.
