MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

This unagi restaurant was opened by a fourth-generation river fish wholesaler and has continued since the end of the Edo period. Fatty domestic unagi is cut along its back in the Kanto-style and then grilled without steaming in the Kansai-style, making the skin fragrant. The menu includes unaju, ‘Kinshi-don’ with strips of omelette and unagi over rice, and ‘Mamushi-don’ with thinly sliced unagi covered with rice. Reservations are only accepted for dinner.
