What Penang MICHELIN Restaurant Chefs Love the Most About Their City

We asked four MICHELIN restaurant chefs in Penang what they love the most about their culture-rich city.

Surrounded by a sea that provides a treasure trove of seafood, and acres of farmland that grow a bounty of various crops, Penang is recognised as a gastronomic destination for both curious foodies and discerning gourmands alike.

In partnership with the Penang Global Tourism Board (PGT), we asked MICHELIN restaurant chefs in Penang — Safiq Bin Mansor of Ali Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang, Beh Gaik Lean of Auntie Gaik Lean’s Old School Eatery, Kim Hock Su of Au Jardin, and Nuril Razha of Jawi House — about what they love the most about their culture-rich city.

“Penang is the capital of street food, and with Penang eateries listed in the MICHELIN Guide, this is indeed a stepping stone and a badge of honour for our local eateries,” says YB Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE). “With so many food varieties, come and discover the world-renowned culinary pot and experience the extraordinary flavours that Penang has to offer. It's definitely the food paradise of Asia.”

Welcome to Penang, and see you soon!
