Set on Magazine Street among galleries, shops and other eateries, Saffron NOLA is an intriguing spot. Peek inside the large window to find a chic interior defined by rich colors and copper touches, as well as an inviting bar. That welcoming ambience is no mistake; this restaurant is family run by Chef Arvinder Vilkhu and his wife, Pardeep, as well as their children. The menu is steeped in classics with a twist, as in the curried seafood gumbo marrying Indian and Southern traditions.
Fragrant and tender Nariyal Gulf fish with Korma sauce, mango pickle, crispy ginger and curd rice is yet another example of this kitchen's strength.
