The MICHELIN Key is the hotel equivalent of the MICHELIN Star for restaurants. First introduced over the past year in 15 countries across North America, Europe and Asia, the 2025 MICHELIN Keys mark a new milestone for the distinction. On October 8, The MICHELIN Guide will unveil the 2025 Key selection across every region — honoring the world’s most outstanding hotels in its first-ever global Key reveal.
In addition, The Guide will present brand-new awards to four hotels, each representing excellence in a distinct dimension of hospitality. Below is everything you need to know about the 2025 MICHELIN Keys.
1.) What is the MICHELIN Key?
In recent years, the MICHELIN Guide Inspectors have curated a global hotel selection featuring more than 7,000 properties across 125 countries. Every hotel in The MICHELIN Guide hotel selection represents excellence in design, architecture, service and personality — but, like the Star for restaurants, the MICHELIN Key recognizes the best of the best. Since the first MICHELIN Keys were announced in April 2024, the Inspectors have revealed selections in 15 countries across North America, Europe and Asia. This fall, every hotel in the MICHELIN selection, regardless of location, will be eligible for a Key.3.) When, where and how will the next MICHELIN Keys be unveiled?
The new One, Two, and Three Key hotels — along with four winners of brand-new awards — will be revealed at a MICHELIN Guide Ceremony in Paris on October 8, 2025. The full selection will also be announced digitally via The MICHELIN Guide app, website and social platforms.4.) What are the brand-new hotel awards?
Ahead of the October 8 announcement, five nominees will be revealed in each of the following four categories:- MICHELIN Architecture & Design Award: Celebrating hotels where unforgettable architecture and interior design are central to the guest experience. Nominees announced August 13.
- MICHELIN Wellness Award: Celebrating the extraordinary hotels that place mental and physical well-being at the very heart of the stay. Nominees announced August 27.
- MICHELIN Local Gateway Award: Celebrating the hotels that facilitate remarkable and authentic local experiences for guests. Nominees announced September 10.
- MICHELIN Opening of the Year Award: Celebrating the bold new arrivals that made an immediate impact in their first year. Nominees announced September 24.
