MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking
This restaurant is named after the famous verse by the early 20C poet, Kenji Miyazawa. The self-trained owner-chef puts his all into his cuisine. The menu items are prepared with lashings of fermented seasonings so as to go well with sake—which is also the reason why the grilled fish is marinated in malted rice before cooking. Chicken liver paired with miso is accompanied by rice-bran bread. The shop’s homemade seasoning, white soy sauce, highlights his distinctive approach.
