But the 1 Hotel Mayfair, right around the corner from Green Park and the Ritz, is a reminder that this is also very much a luxury brand. It’s a thorough renovation of a pair of existing buildings — sustainability in action — but the impression it gives is that of a purpose-built refuge. Clean-lined Scandinavian-inspired design defines the spaces, which are warmed with living greenery and soft, organic textures. Among the attractions are a very fine Bamford spa and a restaurant by the award-winning chef Tom Sellers.
