Actress, model, and creative director Kiko Mizuhara finds endless inspiration in Tokyo. The American-born artist of Japanese and Korean heritage is best known for gracing the covers of top fashion and culture magazines, including Vogue, i-D, and D Repubblica. She is currently a global ambassador for Saint Laurent and has starred in campaigns for Chanel, Christian Dior, Diesel, and Tiffany & Co.—even serving as one of Karl Lagerfeld’s muses.

Mizuhara made her acting debut in Tran Anh Hung’s adaptation of Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood and later appeared in Toho’s adaptation of the beloved manga Attack on Titan.

To Mizuhara, Tokyo is a city where tradition and modernity intertwine. From culinary delights to artistic inspiration and one-of-a-kind shopping, these are her go-to spots.

Which restaurant in Tokyo keeps you coming back for more?

Le Cabaret—it captures the ambiance of a Parisian bistro, offering a relaxed setting with good music playing in the background. I enjoy sitting at the outdoor tables, observing people having a great time. My favorite dish is the simple yet flavorful mushroom salad.

Are there any hotel restaurants you love?

Trunk (Hotel) Yoyogi Park. The charm lies in its breathtaking view of Yoyogi Park from the beautiful pool. Enjoying delicious Italian cuisine by the poolside adds a special touch to the experience. The sophisticated décor and funky art pieces, along with the lovely music, create an atmosphere that I truly enjoy.

If someone wants a truly unique souvenir from Tokyo, where should they go?

UTSUWA HANADA. This stylish pottery shop is a treasure trove of wonderful pieces from artists all over Japan, including pottery and handmade glassware. It's my favorite pottery shop in Tokyo. I often bring friends here, where they find lovely items like earthenware pots. It's a must-visit for anyone interested in Japanese craftsmanship.

Where do you head for a dose of culture?

The Setagaya Art Museum always features fantastic exhibitions, showcasing renowned artists like Shiro Kuramata. The museum has a calm atmosphere, and the building itself is stunning. After exploring the exhibits, it's nice to have tea with friends at the café downstairs or relax on the beautiful park grounds right in front of you. Highly recommended for friends or dates.

Where in Tokyo would you book a table for an unforgettable special occasion?

AC HOUSE is a gem where stunning architecture meets culinary excellence. Upon entering, you are greeted by a uniquely shaped white stone table seamlessly integrated into the space. The beautiful architecture, renovated from a traditional house, sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. Each dish from the set menu is paired with a carefully selected array of Japanese, Western, and Chinese liqueurs and herbs, enhancing the flavors. What stands out to me is the addition of interesting herbs in every dish and the delightful music selection that creates a cozy atmosphere.

Tokyo is known for its cocktail culture—do you have any favorite spots?

Hachigatsu no Kujira (Whales of August). Located in Shibuya, this bar offers cocktails themed around movies, making it a very special place. I love bringing friends here to listen to everyone's favorite movie stories and memories. It's the perfect spot for a date night, filled with lots of memories and a unique ambiance.
