“Paris embodies the history of France and the French people,” purrs Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, former First Lady of France, supermodel, chanteuse, and most recently co-owner of Roseblood winery with Stéphane Courbit, Jean-Guillaume Prats, and husband, Nicolas Sarkozy. “The Estoublon estate is pure magic,” adds Bruni-Sarkozy noting that her husband and she fell in love upon first visit. “Chateau d’Estoublon was already renowned for its exceptional olive oils and its magnificent castle. Jean-Guillaume [Prats] is one of the most knowledgeable executives in the wine industry [and] saw the potential for this property and had this idea of creating a new rosé brand.”
And for Bruni-Sarkozy, relaxing with loved ones and a glass of wine is part of life. “Wine is the perfect accompaniment to a meal, or a relaxing way to wind down with friends,” says Bruni-Sarkozy. “I enjoy pairing Roseblood with light and refreshing dishes [like], for example, a white fish [or] savoring grilled vegetables, creamy burrata, or spinach ricotta ravioli with fresh basil.”
It’s fitting that Bruni-Sarkozy’s latest act includes gastronomy. During her tenure as a model and then First Lady, Bruni-Sarkozy traveled across the globe discovering new cultures and tasting their cuisines. For Roseblood’s latest offering, Bruni-Sarkozy harnesses the elegance of these travels with 1489, the label’s first gastronomic rosé. Beyond the plate (or glass), Bruni-Sarkozy promises new music ahead: “I’m in the process of creating a new album. It’s taking time, but writing is something that I truly enjoy.” As for her ultimate source of inspiration, the artist looks close to home. “Every monument, every boulevard tells a part of the country’s evolution. Paris reflects the French identity."
