The Savoie ski resort town of Tignes is no stranger to large-scale hospitality; a worthy alternative to the big resort hotels is Maison Bouvier, a 24-room luxury boutique hotel that sets itself apart via dramatic, almost monumental architecture and interior design — identifiably Alpine in inspiration, but impossibly richly detailed and finely crafted. Incredibly, it’s a family-owned and -operated hotel, but there’s nothing homespun about it; the rooms are stylish and luxe, the spa is uniquely memorable, and the restaurants range from a slopeside cafeteria to the fine-dining Ursus, recipient of one MICHELIN Star and one Green Star.
