Five-star, Swiss Alps, ski-in, ski-out. That’s most of what you need to know. But if you can’t picture this scene based on context clues, here’s the lowdown: LeCrans Hotel & Spa is a classic chalet, wooden and angular, dusted with snow for much of the year, set high in the peaks of the Alps. Once a humble family-run pension, the place underwent an intensive makeover to turn it into a luxe getaway suited to people who know the difference between Petite Arvine and Humagne Blanche. And who, let’s face it, have been skiing as long as they’ve been walking.

Then again, you needn’t hurry to the slopes; you don’t even have to set foot outside this hotel to enjoy the scenery. It’s all about the mountains at LeCrans Hotel, so much so that each of the fifteen guest rooms and suites are named after a famous peak or range, from Everest to the Dolomites. You’ll be soaking up views of the snow caps from the vantage point of your private balcony or terrace, or while warming your feet by your in-room fireplace.

With rustic wood-beamed walls and vaulted ceilings, even the most standard rooms feel grand and cozily romantic, featuring canopied king-sized beds with fluffy down comforters, stone bathrooms with Jacuzzis, and handy amenities like a Nespresso machine and a large plasma screen with a DVD player. Splash out on a duplex suite for extra lounge space, or, if you fancy whipping up your own Swiss cheese plate or café au lait, book an apartment with a fully equipped kitchen.

If you’ve braved the pistes — or the hiking trails, if you’re visiting in summer — book a treatment at the elegant stone- and wood-lined LeSpa. And if you spent the day in pajamas in your suite, no judgment. But do tear yourself away for an aprés-ski glass of wine at Vinothèque, followed by French cuisine at Le Montblanc, the hotel’s Michelin-starred, rotunda-shaped restaurant: the snowy landscape seems to glow in the dark, especially on a clear, starry night.

How to Get There: LeCrans Hotel & Spa is located approximately 183 km by car from Geneva Airport via E62 and Route 9.
