MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

The name means “moon” in Spanish, and this Mexican kitchen also uses it as an acronym to reflect its philosophy of “L(local) U(unrefined) N(natural) A(authentic)” cooking. The food is decidedly highbrow, thanks to special ingredients like Rancho Gordo beans, Mary’s free-range chickens and everything else that's made from scratch. Chef/owner Jo Lerma-Lopez’s love for cooking is clear in every single bite, especially the fire-roasted chiles rellenos, generously stuffed with a fragrant beef stew and deep-fried to perfection. Ask for extra handmade tortillas to go with your simmered charro beans.
The dining room seems to burst with color. A full-service bar lures with backlit tequila bottles and vibrant tiles. Come summer, the back patio is the place to be.
