Set in the iconic Left Bank neighborhood of Saint Germain des Pres, and family-owned for a hundred years, the Hôtel Pas de Calais achieves something a lot of hotels can’t, packing a ton of character and some very respectable comforts into a Parisian-sized package in a vibrant, central location. The interiors are not just stylish but varied as well, some rooms full of saturated colors, others more sedate, all marrying classic architecture with contemporary design and up-to-date boutique-hotel details like Clarins bath products. In typical local tradition, you’ll have to look outside for a proper restaurant — not far outside, though, as the Café de Louise, right next door, offers its menu via room service.
