Architect Katia Vitale transformed this isolated structure in Sasso Barisano into ten residences, each carved from Matera's signature tufa stone. The building stands out for its balcony with ornamental stone brackets, locally called "big cats", and shelves cut directly into the facade. Inside, rooms keep their barrel vaults and high ceilings, furnished in minimal contemporary pieces that let the stone architecture speak. Some suites retain original mangiatoie, the feeding troughs where animals once ate. The Deluxe and Suite categories emphasize height and vintage details. Standard rooms focus on the barrel vault experience. Steps from Matera's Cathedral, and a five-minute walk to the city's restaurant district.
