Dwarika’s is named for its late founder, who established this one-of-a-kind hotel in an effort to preserve the arts, crafts, and culture of Kathmandu in a way that keeps them alive and accessible to curious visitors to Nepal. The result is something like a museum that you can sleep in — and, in case it’s not clear, one of the most memorable hotels we’ve ever come across. It’s also a rather luxurious one, with expansive suites, three distinctive restaurants, and a pool and Ayurvedic spa, complete with yoga classes. As long as it stands, travelers have a direct line to Kathmandu’s past.
