The Hotel del Parque is named not for just any old park, but for the Parque Historical botanical gardens, in Ecuador’s second city of Guayaquil. And, as you might have guessed it’s not just any old hotel, but a beautifully restored 19th-century edifice that was actually moved, piece by piece, from its original city-center location, and has in the process been updated and transformed into a proper modern luxury hotel. Its 44 guest rooms are handsome, and are classic in inspiration but modern in their comforts — the best of both luxury-hotel worlds.
