An 1826 original on Corso Italia, its sky-blue shutters open to interiors reshaped by Vicky Charles with owner Renzo Rosso. Thirty-eight rooms and suites include the top-floor Ancora Suite, complete with a broad terrace facing the Dolomites. Expect dark woods, custom pieces, sheepskin and stone fireplaces, plus galleries of vintage Cortina photography and stacks of art books. A Viennese-style terrace dining room serves alpine comfort dishes; there’s a multi-level spa, a gym, and the phone-free Brave Club for cocktails and a suitable soundtrack. Made with a mix of heritage and intention, Ancora feels less like a revival than a return to form: Cortina’s old soul, seen through a sharper lens.
