This stretch of coast in the Breton region of Finistère is known as the Côte des Légendes, and the view from the Hôtel de la Mer, The Originals Relais is an impressive one indeed. This classic hotel has had its exteriors restored and its interiors transformed into a proper contemporary boutique hotel, one whose restaurant (and most of its rooms) look out over the forbiddingly rocky coastline. Inside they’re crisp and minimalist, with just a few nods to maritime style, and the eye is drawn ever outward to the horizon. Pontusval, the nearby lighthouse, lends the restaurant its unusual name.
