Schloss Wartegg is nothing if not picturesque — a small castle-style hotel, it’s set between the waters of the Bodensee and the Alpstein mountain peaks. And while its exterior is as classic as they come, and its interiors pay tribute to the era of the castle’s construction, this is, in its functioning, a very modern hotel — right down to its environmentally conscious operation and its hyperlocal, organic cuisine. An atmospheric spa is centered around an oval-shaped bath from 1928, and the hotel offers bike rentals for self-guided exploration, as well as in-house arts and culture programming.
