Like a Japanese ryokan, Hoshinoya Guguan has both public baths and in-room private ones; it’s also got jaw-dropping views of the verdant scenery, and stunning interiors in its tranquil, luxurious rooms and suites. Meals, too, are presented in kaiseki style, with multiple courses all meticulously composed — proof not only that the ryokan experience can be modernized, but that it travels well, too.
