Rancho do Peixe
The pousada consists of 26 wooden bungalows made entirely out of locally sourced materials. There are thatched roofs and furnishings constructed from rough-hewn wood, as one might expect, but some of the interior design choices are a pleasant surprise. Over here, a wall covered with whimsical floral fabric in eye-popping shades of poppy red and sunshine yellow, over there, wildflower petals strewn across a bedside table. The sand dunes are literally steps away — just make sure to slip on your flip-flops or you might splinter your toe on the native wood staircase.
The airy, relaxed cocktail bar and restaurant specializes in deliciously fresh fruit cocktails and Brazilian-Mediterranean cuisine. Since you’ll find mostly tropical berries and just-caught fish on your plate, you may feel light enough to take a moonlit dip in the large, inviting swimming pool before retiring to the bungalow for the night. Many visitors take their turn windsurfing, kitesurfing, or just plain old surfing — but you’ll feel right at home spending the day in a hammock, as well, if you’d rather.
