Michelin is delighted to announce the 2025 restaurant selection of the MICHELIN Guide Taiwan will be revealed on 19 August 2025.
This year marks an important milestone for the MICHELIN Guide, as it celebrates its 125th anniversary. First published in 1900 as a small red book designed for drivers, the MICHELIN Guide has evolved into the world’s most respected authority on gastronomy. Upholding its core values of expertise, independence, and consistency, the MICHELIN Guide has spent over a century exploring the globe and capturing the rich intersections of cuisine and culture. This year, the MICHELIN Guide Taiwan also enters a new chapter of expansion, including New Taipei City, Hsinchu County, and Hsinchu City in its selection for the first time, further showcasing the diversity and depth of Taiwan’s culinary culture.
The highly anticipated MICHELIN Guide Ceremony Taiwan 2025 will officially take place on 19 August 2025 at Grand Hilai Taipei, where full selection of recommended establishments will be released. This event will celebrate culinary excellence and honors the outstanding achievements of chefs and restaurant teams across the seven cities covered by the MICHELIN Guide Taiwan: Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and this year’s new additions: New Taipei City, Hsinchu City, and Hsinchu County.
Bib Gourmand Announcement
The much-loved Bib Gourmand selection, which lists restaurants offering ‘good quality, good value cooking’, will be announced one week prior to the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony, on 12 August 2025, through a press release as well as editorial articles to be published on the MICHELIN Guide website and mobile app.
The selection criteria of the MICHELIN Guide, no matter the status of restaurant within the selection, adhere to a global standard where anonymous MICHELIN Guide inspectors review all types of restaurants which they evaluate based only on the quality of the dishes. All establishments are chosen according to the same five universal criteria: the quality of ingredients, the mastery of cooking techniques, the harmony of flavors, the chef’s personality expressed in the cuisine, and consistency both over time and the through the menu as a whole.
