Most of the Maldives’ luxury resorts occupy an entire private island — Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi takes the concept one step further, taking up not one but three interconnected islands in the South Malé Atoll, including an exclusive island, Ithaafushi, that can be rented out in its entirety.
Every suite is a villa with its own infinity pool, and many are set overwater. All feature custom king-sized beds, lavishly appointed bathrooms with double vanities and standalone soaking tubs, and sliding glass doors opening onto wooden decks with daybeds and hammocks.
In addition to 11 restaurants, a series of oceanfront pools, and a beach club with a water sports activity center, the resort is home to the largest spa in the country. Built on stilts over the shoreline, its treatment rooms are furnished with glass flooring so you can enjoy water views even while face-down on the massage table.
