Paris’s Norman Hôtel is named not for Normandy but for the midcentury American graphic designer Norman Ives — and its interiors, in keeping with its namesake’s inspiration, are a tribute to the modernism of the 1960s. It’s set close to the upper end of the Champs-Elysées, but it’s the farthest thing from busy — with just 37 rooms it’s properly boutique-sized. A few of the rooms can see the Eiffel Tower from their balconies; all of them are understatedly chic and quietly luxurious. And despite its boutique size, it’s got some impressive facilities, from the Omnisens spa to a restaurant by the well-known Thai chef Apiradee Thirakomen.
