There’s only one hotel in the neighborhood of Lomas de Chapultepec, and fittingly for this upscale residential district, it feels less like a hotel and more like the stylish home of a worldly Mexican friend. Framed by abundant greenery on a quiet block, UMA Casa is a design-forward boutique guesthouse with nine individually decorated suites, all named for native fruits and herbs.
The agave-inspired room is outfitted in soothing shades of blue and green, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the gardens, while earth tones and natural wood warm up the suite inspired by achiote, a spice frequently used in regional dishes. Some rooms have private patios with hand-woven hammocks, and all have lime-washed walls, midcentury modern furnishings, and high arching windows and doorways. A lavish breakfast is served each morning on the rooftop terrace, which doubles as an inviting spot for cold drinks at sunset.
