After setting the gold standard for luxury hotels in the city of Arles, the owners of L’Hôtel Particulier have taken their good taste out to the countryside. Just a short drive from town, in the heart of Provence, Les Maisons de l’Hôtel Particulier is a boutique hotel housed in a pair of 15-century cloisters surrounded by quiet gardens. The aesthetic might be described as monastic chic: thick stone walls and curving archways, pale gray concrete floors and wood-beamed ceilings, white linen sofas and marble fireplaces. Suites are outfitted with heavy antique furnishings, gilded candelabras, and sleek white marble bathrooms with bouquets of fresh lavender. All have views of the surrounding gardens or the beautiful stone-lined swimming pool. The buildings’ sun-drenched porticos are lovely for dozing off in a chaise lounge, and the spa, located inside a romantic old greenhouse, is an incredibly picturesque venue for a deep-tissue massage.
