Asterion Suites & Spa – Designed for adults
The fact that Asterion Suites & Spa takes its name from a mythical king of Crete is some indication of the level of hospitality that it aspires to. It’s set on the island’s scenic northwest coast, a short enough distance from Chania to make access easy, but far enough for a pleasant measure of beachside seclusion. And what you’ll find inside its 67 rooms and suites is the very picture of the modern luxury boutique hotel: no stucco or other faux-rustic touches, just a polished minimalist aesthetic, a palette of warm neutrals, and a mixture of subtly organic textures.
Most of the rooms and suites can accommodate up to three or four guests, thanks to some strategically deployed sofa beds. Some suites offer swim-up pool access, others come with their own private pools, and the top-level suite has a rooftop plunge pool with a view out to sea; at all levels you’ll find luxe details like Marshall speakers and Nespresso machines.
The spa is an impressive one, and features a seaside pavilion as well as a gym and a yoga studio. And the cuisine is impressively developed as well — there’s a fine-dining restaurant, a second, more casual eatery, and a pair of bars, one in the lobby and one by the pool.
