WeSense Santorini

Astonishing views of Santorini’s volcanic caldera are plentiful, but not infinite in number; that’s how a village like Imerovigli manages to become so desirable. These are some of the highest and closest views of the island’s most salient feature, and Imerovigli’s orientation means the sun sets behind the caldera itself. This village, known as the “balcony of Santorini,” is home to many of the island’s top attractions, including restaurants and hotels — and among them is WeSense Santorini, which is so small as to be barely a hotel at all.

WeSense contains a mere two units: a Cave Suite called Zest, and a Cave Villa by the name of Bliss. The former sleeps three guests, the latter four; it’s smaller than some vacation homes, and that’s part of its appeal. Privacy and tranquility are assured at this scale, and the interiors in both are clean-lined and modern, with plenty of island character but not a spot of kitsch. Each unit comes with an outdoor jacuzzi and a kitchenette, but that’s more or less the extent of the facilities — there’s a daily breakfast service, and the option of a private boat charter or a wine tasting excursion, but for everything else the town of Imerovigli will provide.
