A few blocks from its sister on Danforth Street, Blind Tiger Carleton Street carries on in the same style: a six-room guest house in a charming residential neighborhood, decorated with a carefully curated selection of vintage furnishings and local artworks, all within easy walking distance of the best this city has to offer. It’s the work of Lark Hotels, the group responsible for many of New England’s finest boutique hotels — which may be why, in spite of their small size and their private nature, the Blind Tiger houses manage to be such friendly and sociable places.

The Carleton Street rooms are no less full of character than their Danforth Street counterparts, though they are, in at least one way, rather more low-key — televisions are entirely absent, replaced by luxe touches like Lather bath products and waffle kimono robes. And the house’s services are similarly minimal; breakfast takes the form of a self-serve toast and yogurt bar, augmented by a pantry stocked with coffee, tea, and locally sourced snacks. Because as pleasant as it is to stay here, you’re meant to get out and about; to that end, the concierge is on hand with recommendations tailored to your interests.
