A few minutes inland from the Atlantic, in the Landais town of Magescq, Le Relais de la Poste is a hospitality institution. Not just for its lodging, contained within a unique century-old mansion, but for the Coussau family’s four generations of chefs — patriarch Bernard was a pioneer in the use of fresh foie gras. The house’s rooms, suites, and apartments have been kept handsomely up to date, and are supported by a spa, a swimming pool, and a solarium. Restaurants include the casual Auberge Côté Quillier as well as a gastronomic restaurant that’s a long-standing culinary institution.
