Contemporary Classic 和 Happening
Spain’s nightlife-oriented Meliá group brings its boutique brand of upscale hedonism to Cabo San Lucas — that, frankly, is about 95% of the story here. If you know the ME hotels from Madrid or London, you know that wherever you find one, you’re in for some big nights. In this case, the hotel is even more central to the local nightlife: ME Cabo’s Blue Marlin Ibiza is where you’ll find the splashiest pool parties, the crowd-pleasingest DJs, the happiest happy hours, the most extravagant themed parties, and even the best local “fire jugglers” — and who among us doesn’t enjoy seeing someone juggle some fire every now and again? Point is, if you’re going out late in Cabo, you’re probably going to end up here one way or another anyway, and the hotel’s proposition is pretty simple: sleep it off in high luxury-boutique style.
About those rooms: they start out more than comfortable enough and quickly veer toward territory that’s downright extravagant. Each one comes with a balcony, some of which overlook the Sea of Cortez. The look is sunny and contemporary, with bright modern furnishings, bedding whose threads someone has gone to the trouble of counting, and all the proper wiring, from sound systems to high-speed wi-fi to extra-sharp screens. Book ambitiously and you’ll have a large sun deck, whirlpool and outdoor shower.
The location among in-town hotels is tops, as well. The hotel is set right on Playa El Médano, the only beach in Cabo where swimming is allowed, with views of Land’s End in the distance. In other words, the beach is about as enticing as they come around here, but at ME Cabo, the pool is every bit as much a draw. Surrounded by serviced, oversized day-beds, it invites serious, prolonged indulgence. Meanwhile the Wet Bar ensures you can keep refreshed inside and out — for what would a hedonist’s playground be without a swim-up bar?
How to get there: ME Cabo is located 45 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD).
