Along the Emerald Coast of Brittany there’s no shortage of impressive hotels, but you’ll have to venture inland to find a gem like the Hôtel de l’Abbaye. As you might imagine, it’s an authentic abbey, this one dating back to the 12th century, transformed with great success into a 45-room hotel whose rooms are as contemporary as its stone walls are ancient. Many units have private terraces, and there’s plentiful common outdoor lounge space as well. There’s an outdoor pool as well as a wellness area with a gym, whirlpool, sauna, and steam room.
