If there’s one town in America that most thoroughly combines Rocky Mountain ruggedness with top-shelf luxury, it’s Jackson, Wyoming. And it’s this precise pairing that is embodied in the Hotel Jackson: the textured wood and rough stone, visible both inside and out, pay tribute to the natural spectacle that is Jackson Hole, while the clean, geometric lines of the hotel’s modernist-inspired architecture — and the luxurious finishes, in leather and fur — demonstrate its upscale aspirations.
It’s the first LEED-certified hotel in Jackson, and has been recognized by no less august an authority than Architectural Digest. Comforts include gas fireplaces, Nespresso machines, Geneva bluetooth sound systems, and extravagant spa-like bathrooms stocked with L’Occitane products. There’s plenty of storage space — essential for ski trips — and most of the rooms come with soaking tubs to restore tired muscles.
Many guests, of course, will prefer the rooftop hot tub, with its mountain view (and its fresh mountain air). The hotel’s restaurant, unexpectedly, focuses on Lebanese-Mediterranean fare, a welcome break from the Rocky Mountain steakhouse norm. And from here, of course, you’re minutes away from some of the wildest landscapes in America, from the ski resort at Jackson Hole to Grand Teton National Park.
