Honfleur, the picturesque port town in Normandy that inspired several of Monet’s paintings, is home to Les Maisons de Léa, a charming boutique hotel located in the heart of the historic center. The hotel, comprising an old salt storehouse and a trio of 16th-century fishermen’s houses, evokes the past with its wood-beamed ceilings, cozy fireplaces, cheerfully painted red walls, maritime antiques, and decorative window shutters. Guest rooms are all unique: some have vaulting ceilings and French country decor, others, accessible through a quiet courtyard, have vintage telephones and hand-painted murals. There’s a quaint wood-paneled bar and library, a spa, a lovely terrace, and an elegant restaurant with velvet banquettes: freshly caught lobster is the house specialty.
