An incredible find on the south side of St. Stephen’s Green, Number 31 is two quietly spectacular lodgings in one: an original Georgian townhouse and a high-modernist mews house designed (and formerly owned) by the mid-century Irish architect Sam Stephenson, with a delightful secret garden in between. The rooms’ styles are dictated by the houses, either classically ornate or crisply clean-lined, and the experience throughout is subtly high-end. The hotel’s air of tranquility is aided by its lack of a restaurant or bar, though breakfast is an elaborate spread, and all the attractions of central Dublin lie a pleasant walk away.
