The Six Senses resorts are nothing if not restorative, but wellness, until now, has been just one component of the brand’s ultra-luxe approach. At Six Senses Vana, however, wellness is the primary focus. This retreat, in the outskirts of Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, sits at the foot of the Himalayas, in a remarkably contemporary structure surrounded by woodland — a more meditative setting would be difficult to imagine.
Its style is minimalist and modern, but its accommodations certainly don’t lack warmth — they’re just as painstakingly tailored to their surroundings as any traditionally styled resort. In classic Six Senses style they’re extremely plush, but tasteful rather than opulent, and there’s a hint of Zen tranquility to the careful arrangement of the objects and spaces.
And that’s before you’ve taken into account the wellness component of your stay, which is a substantial one: personalized nutrition plans, consultations on sleep issues or weight management, and programs centered around detox, yoga, and Ayurvedic or Tibetan medicine.
