MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
This restaurant was founded in the mid-nineteenth century by one of a family line of cooks who served Shimogamo Shrine for generations. The interior is Japanese in its construction, with table seating, private rooms, a tea room, and banquet room. There’s a view of the nearby Takano River and, in the distance, Mt. Hiei. The head chef prepares ingredients the way it's done where they are grown: in this case, following the traditions of Kyoto.
