A surprise menu is one of multiple ways in which to sample the memorable dishes that are among the finest you will find in all of Jersey.

enotèca
Charing Cross, JE3 8AA St Aubin
£££ · Italian

Any natural wine lovers in Jersey will feel right at home at this wine bar and deli which serves a concise menu of classic Italian dishes in the evening, from homemade pasta to tiramisu. The ingredients, from either local Jersey producers or Italian artisans, are of good quality and contribute plenty of flavour to the carefully prepared dishes. The wines come from the owners’ Wild Wine business, which imports natural, organic and biodynamic wines from smaller producers in Italy. The relaxed and friendly service adds to the appeal.

If you’re yearning for a little bit of luxury, then Longueville Manor and its country house charm fit the bill perfectly. A hotel and spa are also housed here alongside the restaurant, where dining alfresco by the outdoor pool is ideal in warmer weather. The wine list is a carefully curated tome and, should you wish, they’ll gladly show you around the cellars.

Mark Jordan at the Beach
La Plage, La Route de la Haule, JE3 7YD Beaumont

It’s been over 10 years since Mark Jordan opened his eponymous restaurant in Beaumont, on the road between St Helier and St Aubin. The bright and airy dining room helps to bring the feel of the beachside location inside, while the menu offers a range of modern British classics. There’s a keenly priced set menu on offer, alongside some more luxurious ingredients on the à la carte. If you get the chance to have the raspberry soufflé with raspberry ripple ice cream, be sure to take it.

Ocean
Le Mont de la Pulente, JE3 8HE La Pulente
£££ · Modern Cuisine

Location is everything at this bright and understated restaurant. Part of The Atlantic Hotel, it sits over on the western side of the island beside both the sea and a sub-tropical garden – and on a sunny day, you could be forgiven for thinking it was in the Caribbean rather than the English Channel. Local produce pops up all across the menu, comprising mostly seafood and, of course, the renowned Jersey Royals. Dishes display a complex approach and there’s a sense of luxury running throughout.

Oyster Box
La Route de la Baie, JE3 8EF Saint Brelade
£££ · Seafood

You’ll be hard pushed to find a beach in Jersey quite as postcard-worthy as St Brelade’s Bay. Thankfully, the Oyster Box is a restaurant befitting of the location and comes with spectacular views from its terrace. The appealing menu offers plenty of options but, as the name suggests, seafood is the star here. From crab taglierini to the fish of the day and Jersey oysters cooked in a myriad of ways, this is a place in which to make the most of the island location.

Samphire
7-11 Don Street, JE2 4TQ Saint Helier
£££ · Modern Cuisine

Smart and smoothly run, this modern brasserie deluxe tucked way down the narrow streets of St Helier ticks so many boxes. Open throughout the day from breakfast and brunch to lunch and dinner, you will find plenty to enjoy on the extensive menus. There’s a Mediterranean influence to many of the dishes, as well as strong combinations of flavours. Being Jersey, there’s plenty of seafood options, including oysters and caviar to start for those looking to make their visit a real occasion.

The Moorings
Gorey Pier, JE3 6EW Gorey
£££ · Traditional Cuisine

At the foot of the striking Mont Orgueil Castle sits this little restaurant with rooms, and it has been here in some form for over 150 years. Today it’s a smart and elegant place with a notably French twist to the cooking, which remains fairly traditional and centres around a host of fish and shellfish – look out for the local oysters in particular. Meat, game and plant-based options are also available, including an enjoyable pheasant schnitzel. Enjoy a drink on the terrace to really get in the holiday mood.
