Incredibly, the legendary Perthshire country-house hotel has presented an answer in the form of the Gleneagles Townhouse, a luxury hotel and members’ club on St. Andrew Square in Edinburgh. It’s no great exaggeration to say the result is spectacular. — the style is somehow both ultra-chic and ultra-Victorian, and the accommodations are ultra-luxe, even the cozy top-floor Nook rooms. Overnight guests gain most of the benefits of membership, including access to the spa and fitness center in the building’s old bank vault. And the social heart of the Townhouse is the lively restaurant, the Spence, followed closely by the Lamplighters rooftop bar.
