Inn by the Sea
Especially now. The Inn is fresh off a very substantial renovation, leaving the character of the place intact, but in the crisp, clean condition of a new build. The rooms and suites are luxurious, to be sure, but not in an over-pampering way. You’ll find gas fireplaces and/or heated floors, which are both quite useful in the winter. As a part of the most recent renovation they've added air conditioning throughout, but you may wish to use it sparingly, as the sea breeze is an essential part of the experience. And it’s not hard to come by — from the Inn’s hillside location the sea views are extraordinary, and it’s a short walk down the boardwalk to Crescent Beach State Park.
The look may be stylish, but the atmosphere is exceedingly relaxed not to mention thoroughly kid- and pet-friendly. And not only is it luxe and tranquil, but it’s green to the core as well. The garden is fertilized with compost from the food service, and the heating oil has been replaced by biofuels. So even as you’re loafing about the grounds, dining al fresco on seasonal fare at Sea Glass, even taking the occasional spa treatment, you’re doing your part to keep the beach, the surf, and the surrounding wildlife habitats in tip-top shape.
How to Get There: Inn By The Sea is located on scenic Route 77 (Bowery Beach Road), approximately 15 minutes from Portland International Jetport(PWM). Daily direct flights service Portland from most major cities in the Northeast as well as Chicago and Atlanta. By car, Inn By The Sea is approximately 2 hours north of Boston.
