On first look, Casa Newton looks like a textbook Tuscan fantasy. And while this countryside estate-turned-boutique hotel has all the trappings — set amid the rolling green landscapes of the Val d’Orcia and enclosed by old stone walls, the property is dotted with olive groves, fragrant herb gardens, and scenic vineyards — it’s a stylish upgrade from the standard agriturismo.
Everything from the crimson-hued farmhouse to the stone-lined pool deck, now shaded by vintage-inspired, bubble gum-pink parasols, has been reimagined with mid-century modern flair. Rooms are hip but down-to-earth with exposed beams, colorful patterned wallpaper, and original artwork by contemporary Italian artists; a pair of suites in restored farm buildings nearby have private garden terraces. A pair of farm-to-table restaurants and an on-site winery add to the appeal, and guests are encouraged to enjoy their late afternoon aperitivi anywhere on the grounds.
