Borgo Egnazia

Contemporary Classic & Quiet
One MICHELIN Key · A very special stay
There’s not a lot of green on the sun-drenched Puglian coast, but the San Domenico golf course is a notable exception. And just off the course, surrounded by gardens and olive groves, is the sort of full-spectrum hotel that’s equally uncommon in this part of the country — the Borgo Egnazia.
It’s designed to resemble the traditional Pugliese village, a cluster of low stone buildings and villas connected by narrow walkways, earning full marks for local color. Inside these spaces, however, the look is considerably less rustic — the off-white stone still dominates the color palette, but an element of contemporary luxury is introduced.
The sixty-three guest rooms in the Borgo’s main building are more than comfortable enough, and not at all lacking for space. But some families need more, and the Borgo Egnazia hears the call — the Borgo suites come in one- and two-bedroom varieties, and the twenty-eight Case have three bedrooms each.
A very comprehensive spa makes the most of its traditional stone construction, providing plenty of atmosphere to accompany its tactile charms. The village is pretty well self-contained, thanks to a small handful of restaurants, and the list of activities is a long one: in addition to the golf course, four pools, two beach clubs, a tennis academy and a cooking school ensure you’re never at a loss for something to do.
