Family-owned for over 80 years, Relais & Châteaux member for more than 40 — you might imagine the Post Lech Arlberg would be a rather traditional sort of place, and you would be entirely correct. But you don’t get to stay at the top of the hospitality business, especially in a place as well-traveled as the Alpine resort of Lech, by staying completely frozen in time. Here you’ll find lavish, classically-styled rooms, complete with ornate carved-wood furniture, but in suspiciously fine condition — Gasthof Post is so well-maintained it looks like it was built a hundred years ago but never used.
The single and double rooms are impressive enough, but the apartments and suites are from another world — a more classic example of Alpine elegance you’re unlikely to find. And impressive in another way is the Post’s spa. Here, modern comfort takes precedence over classic style, resulting in a space that’s not just as thoroughly equipped with restorative treatments as any we’ve seen, but is unapologetically modernist in aspect as well. Meanwhile a handful of restaurants and bars return to classic Alpine atmosphere, and serve a predictably hearty spread for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All the better to fuel you for your various outdoor pursuits, for Lech is an equally inspired setting for winter and summer alike.
