The same family has been running the two-MICHELIN-Star l’Auberge de l’Ill and its adjacent boutique hotel for generations — but a recent design overhaul and expansion has brought new life to the place, making an overnight stay at the riverside Hotel des Berges more than just a convenience. The hotel’s guest rooms and suites are located both in the property’s original chalet-style building, with dark wood-paneling, terracotta floors, and plush sofas, and in the new addition, a modern glass and wood structure with a minimalist, almost futuristic Japanese aesthetic and a sleek organic spa. Indoor and outdoor pools provide diversion year-round, and the gardens on the riverbank are gorgeous.
