Modern Design & Lively
What the Ace hotels are to the United States, the 25hours hotels are to the German-speaking world: a friendly, accessible, and fun boutique-hotel experience, one that’s in the business of inclusion, not exclusivity. And while they’re all recognizably part of the same family, they take care to tailor themselves to their individual locations. Düsseldorf, in the west, necessarily calls for a different approach than Berlin or Vienna, and the 25hours Das Tour follows through with a visual identity all its own.
From Düsseldorf you expect precision German engineering, and the Swedish design team delivers — along with a distinct French influence (three guesses as to what “Das Tour” refers to). The rooms, in fact, are one or the other: industrial metal surfaces and saturated colors in the German, a warmer, more Mediterranean style in the French. They’re smart, efficient, and comfortable, and come with Bluetooth audio systems at all levels; some add balconies and freestanding tubs.
While the rooms are clever and stylish, much of a 25hours hotel’s appeal lies in its public spaces. The Paris Club, the hotel’s bar and restaurant, pretty definitively chooses a side in the France vs. Germany controversy, and while the sauna and gym recall the typically German obsession with health, this one is styled as a tribute to the Tour de France. And the cycling connection is more than just stylistic; if you’re of a mind to explore Düsseldorf on two wheels, the hotel’s got Schindelhauer bikes available for rent — as well as a fleet of Minis, if you’d rather travel by motor.
