Two Stars: Excellent cooking
This wonderful restaurant is the professional epicentre of chef Paco Pérez, who has proved unstoppable in taking his culinary concept from this small town out into the demanding international arena. His wife, Montse Serra, has played a key role in his career, working with him to take over this family inn overlooking the bay. After a major overhaul, it has become a renowned fine-dining hotspot and the perfect place to discover 21st-century Mediterranean cuisine, with the added bonus of a handful of guest suites.
The concise à la carte features innovative dishes (half-plates are also available) that showcase his famous ‘surf and turf’ concept alongside two superb tasting menus: MAR, dedicated to the raw ingredients of the Mar d'Amunt, with its seaweed and some little-known products, as well as Memoria, Territorio y Cultura, more focused on the cuisine of the Empordà. They have a bakery where they sell freshly baked bread, pastries, jams, and even garums!
