It’s not easy to stand out in Mexico City’s hippest neighborhood, but Casona Roma Norte is a modern classic that’s as striking from the street as it is inside. This rose-pink Belle Époque mansion dates back to the 1920s, and though its grand interiors have been stripped back and outfitted with minimalist décor and modern art, the place still radiates old-world magic.
Rooms are bohemian-chic with wooden floors, handmade Oaxacan rugs, marble bathrooms and luxurious beds made up in organic cotton linens; many have romantic writing desks, and a few feature private balconies. The hotel’s popular all-day restaurant serves elevated Mexican comfort food, and there’s also an agave tasting lounge and a great Japanese tea room on-site, though the undisputed crowning glory is the leafy rooftop terrace — perfect for cold drinks after a day out exploring the neighborhood's shops and galleries.
